DURRINGTON COMMUNITY WEEK – Saturday 6th June to Sunday 14th June 2009

The Durrington Festival Week runs from Saturday 6th June to Sunday 14th June. Throughout the week organisations in Durrington will be holding events to raise awareness of the very many different things that go on in Durrington. Churches, schools, businesses, youth groups and many individuals are organising exhibitions, fun days, plays, talks, guided walks, fitness classes, coffee mornings and so much more etc to celebrate the community of Durrington.

VILLAGE FAYRE – Saturday 13th June – 1pm – 5pm

On the final Saturday the 13th June the annual Village Fayre is held. This year it will run from 1pm to 5pm on Pond Lane Recreation Park. This is when 90 + organisations set up their stands and raise money for their good causes. The Carnival as always will start at Lloyds TSB Registrars at 1:30pm arriving at Pond Lane Recreation Park at 2pm. As always the Harris Brothers will be on site with their famous fun fair that will open on the Friday and Saturday nights.

The Village Fayre continues with many different arena events, Samba music, Balloon Releases, Carnival Princess etc. This year Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club are joining in and sending their ‘In the Community’ coach along to run a football competition at the festival

EVENING CONCERT

At 7pm the evening entertainment will begin on Pond Lane Recreation Park with a mixture of local bands with strong local following. Previous bands playing include Sandweaver, The Decoys (formally known as K2), Mr Smith and many others providing lively concerts. This year's concert is planned to continue through to 10.30pm and everyone is welcome to bring a picnic and sit and enjoy the entertainment.
